I'm Johanna, an animation student who loves to draw and reads comics. I draw animals and creatures as well as autobiographic illustrations and comics from my own life. Enjoy!

My name is Johanna Jouppila. No-one ever seems to get it right so don’t worry if you’re struggling to remember it at first as well. It’s normal.

I draw. I animate. I read comics. Lots of comics. I am what you could call a ‘comic geek’, and proud of it. Though drawing is my one big true love and therefore I’ve always wanted to be an artist of some sort. Studied comics for a year in Finland and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Animation from the University for the Creative Arts in Maidstone in 2010. Am currently studying for a Masters degree at the Royal College of Art in London and hoping I’ll get closer to finding my own “voice” as an artist during my time there.

Nature, animals, human behavior, emotions, especially happiness and love inspire my work. I like drawing expressive characters and portraying emotion through my work. I like to think my art has a positive atmosphere to it.

I was born in Kurikka, Finland, where my family still lives and moved to England in 2007 to chase my dreams and challenge myself by studying art in foreign language.
