Joanne Ladisa is a self-taught artist who discovered a passion for drawing and painting as a child. As an adult her love of photography has emerged, noting that her mother was a huge inspiration for art throughout her life.

Joanne grew up in Queens, New York with a rather large Italian family. Both her parents were born in Italy and migrated to the United States in the early 50’s. In her late 20’s Joanne left New York with her dog Bazooka to embark on a great journey to the wild west. She borrowed $400 and packed 8 boxes of personal items and first settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico and later to a small farming community about 45 minutes South called Los Lunas, where she could also fulfill her childhood dreams of owning a horse and having a small hobby farm.

Her artwork focuses primarily on painting and photographing landscapes and still life with acrylics and other mediums, but you can also find her doing sidewalk chalk art or rock painting with children at farmer’s markets to help encourage children in art. In her photography she focus on landscapes much of the time searching the clouds in the sky for secrets to reveal some ancient knowledge that the Universe would like to share with her, along with other avenues to express her evolving spirituality, but ultimately tries to capture the awe in life through her photography. Her other passions in life are yoga and more recently Reiki.

Joanne has been featured in galleries such at the Los Lunas Heritage Museum, Tome Art Gallery in Los Lunas, New Mexico, the Belen Art League and Studio 505 in Belen, New Mexico.
