My interest in Photography goes back to my childhood in the Berlin of the 1930s when at 11-12 years old, someone gave me an AGFA box camera (cost 4 DM), using 6x9cm B/W 120 film rolls.
My weekly allowance was not enough for film and processing. But with a primitive developer box, I could process my films without need for a darkroom and only pay for copying. Many years later, my friend, the great Chilean photographer Antonio Quintana, let me work with him and taught me laboratory techniques and put his workshop at my disposal. Around 1955, I also completed a correspondence course with the New York Institute of Photography that I found helpful.
