I've been an avid shooter for quite a few years, and although never having done it full time, I've taken on a fair number of paid assignments. Mostly single portraits, family portraits, weddings and corporate events.

My first camera, or more probably the family camera, was a Kodak Instamatic II. I only remember shooting a roll or two with it in my pre-teen years. One of those rolls had some awesome pictures of a tornado. Then, I didn't pick up a camera again until my early 20's, which was about 40 years ago. Have been shooting ever since.

Still to this day (December 17, 2024) I shoot a wide variety of subjects with various film cameras. Because I derive some level of satisfaction from the process of using manual controls and waiting to see if my use of those controls was well executed, the older cameras are more interesting to me. And although I've found it difficult, my real passion is to create pieces of what may be considered photographic art.

Hopefully someday, maybe in my retirement years, I will figure out a way to earn a modest living with photography.
