I'm just here to empty the trash and sweep up the joint after lights-out. It's really cool when they leave the music on the all-night jazz & blues station, and out of nowhere Etta starts beltin' out the badness, or Thelonious sets to shufflin' like all get-out while he bangs out another funny run down the black-and-whites.

It's always been a love-hate relationship between me and words - or any form of meaningful human expression, for that matter, most notably of late photography. Here's a verse I penned a few years ago in a decidedly failed - though by no means ignoble - attempt to reconcile my (super)ego with the world around me through the not-so-freely-associated aid of the bard's quill:

The Poet's Symphony: Finished, Unbegun

...and yet I long to leave

something behind -

if not a fingerprint

then an unrhymed foot;

if not a frown

then an upside-down simile -

any sign from the universe

of expansion or contraction

due to the chaotic fallout

of one heart beating.

I love freedom. That's all I really want to say here. I steal a few snapshots, spill a few syllables, revel in bygone eras and dreams of scoring Rita Hayworth, then finish settin' out the trash for curbside pickup in the morning. Tonight between midnight and two it was nothin' but Ray Charles and Johnny Cash. The people say when Ray died, God finally got His maestro. Sweet Lord, ain't nothin' like freedom.

Johhny! Forget the photography and go with the poetic side! Wow! They say a picture is worth a million words. I might debate. The first two poems on your profile were simply deep. Provocatively hidden. In the midst of the quiet words your heart shouted at it's loudest. So litle said. So much meant. WOW!!! Go Johnny!! … Read more

I don't personally know John. From what I see in his pictures, he has a depth of soul and a love of our country; the people who fight for our freedom and the citizens that work so hard to keep our communities safe. Thank you, John, for your wonderful perspective on life.

Johngiovani1 shows it as it is. His images are well thought out and well executed. It is a pleasure to visit this place and take a look at America through his eyes. Freedom is never and has never been free. Johngiovani1 shows through his photographic works how he pays his personal tributes to those who have laid down their lives for the cause, or indeed are still prepared so to do. I enjoy learning about the American way of life through his work and feel that all who venture to Johngiovani1's stream will come away richer in mind and spirit. Keep those photos coming Tony. snapperz
