Usual thing . . . had a camera since I was 10, just family snaps and holidays blah blah blah. Did Photography as part of my diploma back in 1972-5 at Art College, and lots of film and TV shooting for docco's, commercials, etc. And then I did the OU T189 course back in 2010 which definitely improved my photography. Was happily snapping away just family snaps and holidays blah blah blah, when I decided to do my LRPS, which I got in 2015. This also improved my photography. Now in my 6th decade, achieved my ARPS and a member of 2 camera clubs, which also helps!
