I met John for the first time this year -- he's a really interesting person with a good sense of humor and as a photographer, he has made some really amazing photos that are the result of his skill with making things, combined with his sense of art and design. Plus, it looks like he appreciates well-made camera gear, and that in itself is an endorsement! I certainly look forward to seeing his work.
