I have been into photography since high-school, over 50-years ago now, and firmly in the Film-Age, but digital really set me free. I started here with a Canon 10D, but then I moved to a Canon 1DmkIII. I also have a 5DmkIII and 5DmkIV and my most current is the Canon R5, which I think is magnificent. I do many commissioned shoots on an unpaid volunteer basis for local non-profits and select organizations. I picked up a Fujifilm X100 in 2011 as an always-with-me compact, and I love it. I replaced the Original X100 with an X100V, which is even better. I shoot almost exclusively in RAW on all cameras, and I develop with Lightroom and Photoshop. I also make heavy use of the DxO/NIK modules.

I live in a semi-rural area of SE Pennsylvania.

My icon is a photo of my own great-great-great-grandfather (b. 1787) taken by my great-grandfather, who was a professional photographer in upstate NY in the 1870's, so it's in-the-blood. I have a large collection of 19th century photos that I have inherited, and there are scans of many of them posted here in my "Old and Vintage" collection.

Unlike the vast majority of people here, I put a lot of commentary on my images. I sure wish that more of YOU did this too. I want to learn. Life is a continuum however, and just as I would like to learn from those who can do better (and there are many), there may be some who think that they could learn something from me. I am not preaching – I hope. I don’t believe in “Right” and “Wrong” in art. My only intention is to describe what I have done and why, and if you like what you see, then maybe the commentary will give you some ideas of your own.
