At the beginning of 2010, I started as a photographer with a dlsr camera. I began photography to help provide content and source material for my web design. However, I find the challenge of capturing the atmosphere, movement, and emotion of a moment so intoxicating that producing beautiful photos has become my obsession. In particular, I have honed my creative eye for the many cultural and live music festivals that "keep Austin weird.” For example, I am a central photographer for one of the largest Samba dance schools in the nation, the Austin Samba School. Over the past year, the Austin Samba School has come to rely on my photographic acumen; my photos highlight their advertisements and promotions.
Along with taking pictures for the Samba School, I have been commissioned to travel and photograph cultural events outside of Austin. In particular, I was invited to Seattle, WA to photograph the Freemont Summer Solstice event for a local, non-profit arts organization: Blank Canvas. Additionally, I have been featured as the primary photographer for the Higher Learning clothing line, and the hip hop group, Riders Against the Storm (RAS). Finally, I have spent the past year documenting experiences of Austin's unique culture such as SXSW, Carnaval 2010 & 2011, Texas Relays, Texas Lonestar Tattoo convention,TXRD Lonestar Rollergirls, and dozens of live performances at venues all over Austin. I am a photographer with a talent for capturing the spirit of the activities and people that animate Austin.
