I am a graduate from Christopher Newport University with a degree in English with a Journalism concentration and a minor in Sociology. My biggest passion is music, and I have really tried to use that passion in helping me pick my career path. When I came to CNU I didn't know what I wanted to declare my major as but I knew I liked to write and rock out. I used to be a musician, but when I realized that I wasn't very talented I took my love for music into other outlets, which led me to pursue photography. I became a contributing writer and photographer for the school newspaper, The Captain's Log, and I started doing photos and stories for the Arts and Entertainment section, which I thought was so cool because it gave me access to talk to bands and even get photo passes to venues, such as The NorVa and The National. After getting into that I knew I wanted to pursue journalism and photography as a career, and I decided to start my own photography business on the side to take photos of bands and get paid for it. I got my first Digital SLR camera for my 21st birthday after begging my parents for one, and when I finally got it I literally broke down in tears of joy. From there I have been trying to build my reputation as a photographer and have done portraits and other photojournalism work, but my heart remains with shooting bands and feeling like a part of the show. One of the things I love most about music is having that connection with the performers as well as the communal vibes from everyone in the crowd. If someone falls down, you pick them up and have a good time together. Also, as a photographer I love being up close to the band, right in their face singing along to the music.

I use a Nikon D40 Digital SLR Camera.

My lenses include an 18-55mm and 55-200mm zoom.

I also have a Nikon SB-600 speedlight.
