To me, the digital camera is manna from heaven. I say manna, because it was free for me, i.e. I have my mother's camera on quasi-permanent loan. Thank you, Anyu! My heart is still set, as hearts are wont to be, on better manna.

My main goal when I decided to join Flickr was to be able to share my photos with friends and family faster and with more ease. Some of my comments are written with these people in mind, but everyone's welcome, of course.

I like photography because I can create images without the frustration of using my limited drawing and painting skills.

Photography is also a great way to explore your world. I don't think anything is inherently boring. It's all in what you do with it.

I belong to a (real life) photography group, so quite a few my photos belong to the group's themes. It's all pretty informal, though. But it's fun, and that's the important.

I'm trying to learn how to identify plants and flowers, much to my stepmother's delight. Her wickedness is biology. I got tired of taking pictures of I-don't-know-what. Hence the attempt to stick a name on every plant.

Besides plants, I'm currently enjoying taking animal pictures. I love animals and have 2 1/2 cats (modern families, divorce, etc.). [EDIT: 2 cats - Whitey passed on summer 2006, to our great sadness.]

And I love to hate Noam Chomsky. To clarify: I have a BA in linguistics, so it's Noam's linguistics I love to hate. (For those who don't know, his day job is professor of linguistics at MIT). It's not a comment on his politics, but he might still say my whole comment is wrong. No shrinking violet, Noam.

But I wanted to put that out there, as language and linguistics are still near and dear to my heart. My plan, however, is to go somewhat sideways from linguistics and become a speech/language pathologist (SLP).
