A childhood addicted to cartoons, video games and fantasy books was the major factor on the style definition of the works of Lelo, Rio de Janeiro based graphic artist, that as far as he can recall, has always tried to represent these fantastic worlds and at the same time incorporate the images and icons of his daily life.
In 1998, he started to explore street art. At the same time he reassembled his father’s old screenprint table and started, selfly-taught, to play with this print technique, creating posters and stckers he pasted all over the streets of his city, generating an invasion of surrealist creatures.
A few time later, he was also experimenting with graffiti, always adding other techniques that were not “common” on the graffiti scene. And since then he always searching improvements for his work, researching new references, inserting more details and textures, and working with more complex techniques each time.
The artist summarizes his work as a series of experiments where every outcome is satisfying.
