Founded in 1811 by Archduke Johann, the Joanneum has developed from a compact educational collection to one of the most important museums in Europe. These days, more than 4.5m items in the collections are kept at thirteen locations throughout Styria, whre they are preserved, researched and comprehensively promoted.
