I became interested in wildlife photography at the age of 15 when I was given my first SLR camera. My love of wildlife and the great outdoors led me to attend the Sussex Wildlife Nature photography course led by David Plummer, which I then followed with a two-week field trip to the swamps of Brazil, again on a trip led by David. I have recently returned from the Masai Mara in Kenya where I spent 9 days photographing the wildlife of the open plains.
I spend most of my savings on travelling to different places around the world; I have climbed Machu Picchu in Peru, as well as the Pyramids of Chichin Itza in Mexico. I have white-water rafted Batoka gorge and canoed the lower Zambezi River in Zimbabwe. I have journeyed through the Amazon by river boat and ridden elephants through the African bush. I have jumped off the top of the sky tower in Auckland, New Zealand and scuba-dived the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. I have driven 10,000 miles around Europe in a 1972 VW campervan and still my list of dreams gets longer instead of shorter!
I still would love to swim with the elephants in Nepal, taste fried fish in Vietnam and ride a dog sled in Iceland. I want to marvel at the northern lights, drink Vodka in the Ice Hotel and witness bears catching salmon with their front paws.
So much to do and so little time to save. Oh and ....Whooo hoooooo..... I won the Kent and Sussex Photographer of the Year competition in 2009!
