A native Californian (though not proud of the political climate). Started to appreciate at an early age, the vast natural beauty bestowed upon us here by our Creator! Early camping trips to the San Jacinto mountains and then to Sequoia and Yosemite in the 50's and 60's instilled a love for the open spaces. It wasn't until about age 11 that I first took up the Brownie and shot my first film documenting those early vacations. Next came the fulfillment of my desire to see the Sierra backcountry when in the summer of 1967 I did my first backpacks into the backcountry, and then in August of 68, I did 190 miles of the John Muir Trail. Since then I have been fortunate to make many trips to the High Sierra and photograph those adventures. i continue to hone my photographic skills, and recently have moved from shooting exclusively 35mm film, to medium format film.
