Lifelong naturalist born and raised in the southern Appalachians; after a six year stint in New England (central Maine), I now reside in Gainesville, Florida and enjoy all things out-of-doors but especially hiking, paddling, fishing, running, and wildlife/nature photography.

Though my primary focus is herpetology (the study of reptiles and amphibians), I often gravitate to invertebrates (especially tiger beetles and spiders). I also have a somewhat obsessive passion for birds.
