I can't believe I haven't written you a testimonial. I guess I took it for granted because we are such good friends and speak on a daily basis. The thing is when I first discovered your photo stream I was in such awe and I felt that someone this talented would never become my friend let alone invite me to meet up and shoot with them. That was just about a year ago and now that I know you better than any of my flickr contacts (or friends) I can really say your photos suck! Seriously; all joking aside, you are a rock star behind the lens of any camera you pick up. Even if you were shooting with your Girl Scout Brownie camera with film from the 80s, standing on one leg hopping around like a rabbit you would still get some of the best shots I've ever seen. A year later I'm proud to call you my flamingo and I still feel the same about your work exactly like the first time I visited your stream. Enough of this sappy shit. Lets go out on the balcony and have a scotch and a nice cigar.

Jen knows how to be a friend and not a contact. Her work is honest, deep, emotive, and real. There are plenty of people on here that will give you favs, and comments, and all the other junk, but she is one of the few who will truly be there for you.

I’ve written precious few testimonials. I have pretty strict criteria which virtually allows me to ignore this business altogether. First, I will not write unless I have thought about it for a long, long time. Second, there has to be more than just good photography to write about. Third, I have to feel that I would to write about the person even if that person would never, ever acknowledge my testimonial. Forth, it has to be the type of person who does appreciate a testimonial. But Jen is special. After almost 3 years on flickr I have “met” hundreds of people. None compare with this person. I “met” her when I saw the picture on her profile page that reminded me of the Hudson River School, and I noticed that she lives in the Hudson Valley. In March 2007 she was a real good photographer, but that is not what makes her outstanding. She is a “real” person. If flickr were made for anybody it is for her. She has written the story of her life in and continued growth in flickr images. There is honesty on every page. Her sites tell a saga of hope, growth, love, life, struggle, fun and creativity. Sharing her ups and downs, bounces from past to present to future, shadows and bright spots, is as exciting as it gets. In this story one cannot help but feel proud of the protagonist’s achievements, empathy for her struggles, and sorrow for her losses. Watching the story unfold I’ve developed an affinity for orange, cemeteries and skeletons. It makes not one iota of difference that her life style and mine are vastly different. She has inspired many of my pictures. When I was stopped by the cops in Grand Central Station for taking pictures I said that I learned from Jen Konig from Cold Spring, and feigned disbelief that they hadn’t heard of her. (It worked!) In the past 25 months she has grown artistically from real good to fantastic. It is wonderful that she actually makes money from selling her stuff. I hope she gets oodles and oodles of cash for her work. Maybe I will even get to buy one before she sells signed works for thousands. I do not like writing testimonials for people who have a disproportionate amount of them. I looked at her profile before writing. Yeah she’s got a lot. I’m happy to add to it even if nobody ever reads this. There is a greater testimonial which I hadn’t noticed before: She has a huge amount of followers and commenters, and a relatively small amount of “contacts” and “friends.” That says more than a thousand pictures. Also, I am proud to be counted amongst them.

Jennifer will never know how much she has impacted my life, and that is ok. Her honesty, her vision, her huge heart and the way she metabolizes color has been a colossal inspiration. She really , really is so, so talented and I admire her work every second I can.

I would imagine that someone somewhere has said that a person could well be judged by those that gather around his/her dinner table (although I'm pretty sure that person wouldn't have said or written "his/her" !). Similarly, Jennifer can be judged by the friendships she develops and nurtures here at flickr; the number of people who not only visit her stream daily but who are inspired by her mind's eye, her voracious visual appetite and her unbridled excitement for others' photos and company. People really don't come much better than JKönig.

Jen's blues and oranges are music to my colour-blind eyes. And as if her photos weren't worth a million words each, she could start her own column in the New Yorker with her tags. The Melbourne branch of her fan club occasionally sends out delegates to NY to soak up some inspiration. I hope to visit one day soon.

Jennifer and I quickly became friends and will remain friends till one of us pisses the other off, then all bets are off. Seriously, Jennifer is probably one of the most dedicated members of Flickr. What's so wonderful is that she has shaped it in to what she wanted it to be. She attracts people like a flame attracts a moth (except there is none of that bursting in to flames and tiny moth screams). Jennifer has taken Flickr and made her visual diary for all to see and share. She makes friends instantly and probably has shot with more Flickrites that any other Flickrette. So takes some time and enjoy the Jennifer ride. I'm glad that I did.

I will simply say that after months of futile resistance, I have succumbed to the kult of jkonig (sounds kooler if you make the j silent). The colors, the textures, the consistently witty prose... oh yeah, and the amazingly cool person who dispenses it all in a free and easy way that is completely charming and disarming. All of which is to say nothing of her kind and unique brand of comments and sharing in other's photo streams; a unique blend of thoughtful support and motivation to stretch out of our comfort zone. To see and capture more. And isn't that why we joined flickr in first place? You are the real deal, jennifer. Thanks.

Jennifer brings to flickr her style of completely un-selfconcious sharing. The wonderful shots presented here give a beautiful open view into her life as she sees it and experiences it. It's a wonderful statement for someone to be so selfless and so sharing. My sincere compliments and all round kudos to her!
