Photography has been my passion for many years. My interest started at the tender age of 10 when I was bought an Olympus OM10 by my parents. Since then, I have worked my way through many makes and formats of camera.

In 2004 I completed the City & Guilds in Photography Course (9231). Little did I realise the hard work involved, but after 3 years and many essays and portfolios later I successfully completed the course, gaining distinctions in Landscape, Portrait, Still-Life, Close-up, Architectural and Black and White Photography.

My real passion is Landscape Photography and I admire the work of Joe Cornish, David Ward, Paul Wakefield, Galen Rowell, Peter Dombrovskis, Guy Tal, Neil Burnell, Mark Littlejohn, Ian Cameron, David Fieldhouse plus too many others to mention!

More recently I have been inspired by several photographers producing abstract and expressive work through ICM, double exposures and texture layers e.g. Doug Chinnery, Andy Gray, Trudy Kepke, Glenys Garnett, Paul Kenny, Valda Bailey, Erik Malm, Chris Friel, Cath Waters and Lynne Douglas - I'm definitely becoming more abstract!

I have known John for more than five years. The first meeting was at the inaugural get-together for the Great Notley Photography Club www.gnpc.co.uk. Since that time I have enjoyed seeing John's images as they appear on his Flickr photostream. I have also benefited from his comments on my images. John has a particular love for landscape photography which is self evident in his Flickr stream. An exponent of the more classical art of landscape photography who believes in good technique and a solid knowledge of his art. Unusually for a landscape photographer he particularly enjoys the portrait format for many of his images. John has an first class eye for composition that is evident in his carefully considered images and some of the subtlety you will see in his images. I am in the process of encouraging and nagging him to take some of his skills and get involved in taking some more people pictures. I am confident that his knowledge, experience and enthusiasm will deliver some first class results in this genre as well. I always eagerly anticipate John's photographs and look forward to seeing images on an even wider range of subjects in the future. I also find that John is an ideal person to bounce ideas off and debate (over a pint) different aspects of photography to help further my own thinking.
