ARTIST STATEMENT

Fine art is a timeless expression of ideas, design, and communication. The inspirations I use to create fine art come from dreams, nature, and the events that shape all our lives. Classic mediums of oil painting, drawing, and sculpture are used to explore the pieces of art I create. Metalsmithing is miniature sculpture that can be worn. Influences come from classic masters, modern day events, dreams, and daily life. Ideas come in dreams, flashes of imagination and inspiration. The way the light catches a cloud at sunset or the form of the human body can spark a thought for a piece of art. I sketch most days to capture the ideas of the moment and to work out ideas and designs. When I create the actual pieces of art, it is based from sketches, references, and the piece evolves during creation process. One piece often inspires future pieces as variations of the idea and design. I create arts as an outlet and form of expression to share with the world. I studied fine art in college as part of a duel major with engineering. I work during the day as an engineer, and the industrial influence is reflected in my art.
