In real life I was a college professor and then a realtor. Music and travel are my interests. I'm retired and, after stints in the western slope of Colorado and Southern Arizona, I'll soon be headed home to the Kansas City area. Favorite topics are things seen on vacations, interesting architecture, ancient ruins, old signage, abandonment, wildlife, natural environments and oddities. I see flickr as an online library for warehousing my processed photos and as a place to visit with friends made here rather than discussion of cameras, settings or techniques. I'm more of an observer than a photographer. I am very generous with allowing use of my posted photos but do wish to have permission asked. While I am surprised to be asked, I have had requests for use of a photo in blogs, magazines, scholarly dissertations, books, music album covers, restaurant and other building wall displays, etc. I have never turned down a request. I hope to map all my photos, so if you see one without a location please let me know.

The countries map creation software seems to have been corrupted, but if you click on it you will see my travels.. I've been to 46 countries.

Jim has a wonderful photographic eye, and as a retired professor at THE major university in Kansas (the land of my birth and rearing), also has the curious mind of an academic. He’s a world traveler with a real knack for focusing on details of his travels most of us would miss. Although we both went to the same undergrad school, we were a few years apart and would have never met but for the sharing mission of Flickr. I feel like we've become fast friends, even though we've never met, and I credit that, in large measure, to the connectivity Flickr affords. Do check out his photos, and be prepared to enjoy a bit of a different way of viewing our wonderful world,

Traveling the highways of this great nation, a dedicated group of photographers have set out to find that quintessential American shot. Thankfully, Flickr has given them a forum to get together and share their photos and stories, and to forge long lasting friendships. And through this rag tag bunch, I was fortunate to meet Jim, who burst onto the scene armed with a massive portfolio, some friendly words and a real enthusiasm for photography. His enthusiasm has served him well as it has taken him around the country to interesting locales where he has amassed quite a collection of fantastic photographs. So many in fact, that it's often hard to keep up with him. I always look forward to the task, as with the quantity comes great quality.

Just wanted to share that even though Jim is new to Flickr, he really has a great eye for the unusual. He is wonderful at capturing the offbeat and making the mundane very interesting. Check out his stream, you won't be disappointed Pam
