I'm an editorial and documentary photographer. I've been working for National Geographic Magazine for 25 years and a contributing editor for National Geographic Traveler. Besides my work on cultures and environmental issues my work includes documentary projects on rural life in my native Kansas, including my 30 year project on Cuba, Kansas, work which has twice been featured on CBS News Sunday Morning. I also do photographer workshops for National Geographic Expeditions and travel photography seminars for National Geographic Traveler. My wife and I own and operate Small World Gallery.

Over the last few years I have become a very strong fan of Jim Richardson and his images. For a real treat, stop in and see his gallery in Lindsborg, KS. While you are there be certain to see his wife, Kathy's, jewelry. It is awesome/spectacular in its own right! I had the great pleasure to accompany Jim on some of the flint hills shooting expeditions and have to explain that I learned an immense amount from his expertise. We had a great time and lost some serious sleep shooting the stars, lightning bugs and getting out early - staying out late then driving back home. On the downside, I discovered I was in need of some new equipment and devices. This revelation cost me some serious money but I have already benefited from the expenditures. The other downside was my abandonment of PC's for MAC's. OK, that was only a temporary downside. I had to learn a new system and how to use it. I can honestly say that Jim hammered on me for two years before I made the switch and I can't say enough about the positive aspects of the switch for both me and my photography. Thanks for pushing me, Jim. You are a real friend and great influence on those of us here in the Great Plains.
