Photography is my passion! I have been seriously pursuing the art of photography since the mid to late 1990's first with slide film and later with digital SLRs. These days I use a Canon 1Ds Mark III and Canon 1D Mark II. As you'll likely tell from my photostream I am fond of nature and landscape subjects in addition to travel photography not excluding scenery of my area of residence San Francisco, California.

Jim's work is wonderful and inspirational, especially his photography of the San Francisco Bay Area, an area he knows intimately. In addition he is active in other aspects of the photographic community, for example producing the "EXIF and Beyond" podcast. (Yes, I subscribe. :-)
I really look up to Jim as a great photographer, and an all-around good guy. His photos are absolutely stunning in their ability to convey the best possible natural beauty of the captured scene. The images are quite natural in appearance, and don't suffer from too much or too little post-processing. I see Jim's work… Read more

The images are quite natural in appearance, and don't suffer from too much or too little post-processing. I see Jim's work as a very close resemblance to that of Art Wolfe. Aside from the photos, Jim is also an outstanding writer and a key player in the online photography community (check out his blog if you haven't already). He's quite friendly and always willing to socialize with his acquaintances. I know who I'll contact first if I'm ever in the bay area -- I'd love to hang out and shoot some photos.

Two words describe Jim's work: thorough artistry. When I look at his photos, I cannot escape the notion that he obsessed over the composition and the exposure more than I could imagine, and that he spent even more time post-processing each and every one of them. You can't call his photos snapshots. No, they're … Read more

When I look at his photos, I cannot escape the notion that he obsessed over the composition and the exposure more than I could imagine, and that he spent even more time post-processing each and every one of them. You can't call his photos snapshots. No, they're carefully planned out photographs, and the results are amazing. Keep doing fantastic work, Jim!

I could write for days about how great Jim's photography skills are, how unique his artistic vision is, or how inspiring so much of his work has been. Having the privilege of enjoying Jim’s outstanding imagery for several years, I can honestly say he’s among the best I’ve seen – professional or otherwise. His vision, particularly in landscape work, technical expertise and commitment results in truly stunning work. Moreover, Jim is as dedicated to the institution of photography -- and maintaining business integrity in the new world of digital media -- as he is to the art of producing extremely high-quality shots.

I love your pictures, some are fascinating me! Thank you!
I've known Jim for many years and his photography is consistently amazing. I can write ad nauseam about how great a photographer he is, but just take a look at his galleries and see for yourself.
Jim is clearly a very serious photographer (though thats not to say that all his photos are serious though). High quality throughout, and some superlative ones.
Jim's ability to photograph scenes in nature and his ability to zoom in and shoot a macro shot are swamped by his ability to capture the emotion of the moment ... his work quicky draws you in ... Excellent work ...
I have been an admirer of Jim's photography for a few years now. Truly a great landscape photographer and an asset to flickr!
