My work is a reflection of everyday life and places. I chose the medium of photography as a tool to capture the essence of the person or place. I create images to depict the subject as they are remembered in the mind. Not posed or unnatural, but as a window into the intimate world of the subject.
I grew up near St. Louis, Missouri and spent my childhood exploring the creeks, fields and woodlands near and around my hometown. I’ve studied photography at both Missouri State University and Maryville University, St. Louis. My love of the outdoors and family are the inspiration of much of my work. Currently, I live in Urbandale, Iowa where I continue to find inspiration in the places and people in and around my community. I am supported by a family of three beautiful daughters, three dogs and loving husband of 16 years.

Looking through Jill's pictures I'd swear see lived in my home province. Her pictures of the Iowa country side inspire me to want to get out and take more photos of the prairies that surround me. Whether they are pictures of well worn barns, grain bins, or her friends and family, there is one message that comes through on all of them, Jill has a passion for photography. She has a gift for taking ordinary everyday things and making extraordinary pictures of them. In the end Jill's pictures are about everyday life and that's probably the thing I like most about them.

Every so often you come across something on Flickr which really makes you stop and look harder - images born of a depth of feeling, an utter familiarity with the subject which is seldom found and expressed so eloquently; images which then enrich us all the more. Jill's 'Barn Series' is as good a set of pictures as I have seen anywhere. These are images we all wish we could take, but which none of us could take. They are documents of places we can never go to, and they are Jill's alone.
