Im 25 years old, I have a wife and a four year old girl. I was born in Santa Rosa, CA and have lived in Humboldt since I was eight.
I first was introduced to photography during my freshman year in high school. I needed an elective and photography seemed like a good enough choice. I took two years of that, then my interest faded. I briefly got back into photography when I bout a film Rebel. I used that for a while right out of high school. The thing that I think kept me from really getting into the hobby was the film aspect. It was just too hard for me to really learn with film. I didn't have the money or time to shoot hundreds of rolls and get them developed only to find that they were all garbage. So I put the SLR in the closet and bought a Nikon Coolpix of some sort. I never really shot anything but snapshots with the Coolpix. In 2007 I found a good deal on a new Rebel XT and that sparked my interest again. I really think that digital is the way to go as far as learning goes. It is just so much easier when you can see what you have right away.
I shoot with a 40d that I bought in the middle of May. What an upgrade to the old XT, I recommend anyone thinking of buying anything in the Rebel line to go and play with one of the XXd series. You will be amazed! Just the difference in the size and brightness of the viewfinder is almost worth the extra money.
If you have any comments or especially criticism on my photos, please don't hesitate to share them. I am here to learn to be a better photographer and the best way for me to do that is to know what I am doing wrong.
