eLearning | Blended Learning

JFYNet is a school-based computerized STEM, (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education program that supports math and science instruction in middle and high schools. The program provides software and web-based instructional content; student assessment tools; professional development and classroom support for teachers.

 

Instructional content is aligned with state and national standards and the MCAS. The program can be adapted to any system of learning objectives.

 

In the 2009-10 school year JFYNet supported computer-based STEM instructional programs in 15 districts around the Commonwealth providing instruction to 5,500 middle and high school students.

 

Beginning in middle school with interactive online science and math instruction and continuing through high school, JFYNet academic support builds the foundation of STEM skills that are needed for any career in the sciences, or for post-secondary study.

 

JFYGreenJobs Training - Post high school

(Offers intensive skill training courses that lead directly to employment in environmental cleanup and energy efficiency.)

The Environmental Technology training program, supported by a Brownfields training grant from US EPA, teaches environmental science, chemistry, the OSHA 40 HAZWOPR certification and six other professional certifications leading to jobs in environmental cleanup. The course lasts 14 weeks.

 

The Energy Efficiency Technician training prepares candidates for careers in energy conservation as air sealers and weatherization technicians. The course lasts 9 weeks.

 

Adult Education

GED (Certification of General Education Development)

JFYNetWorks offers a 16-hour a week intensive program that teaches basic skills, pre-GED, and GED standards-based curricula. The program is organized in five subjects that correspond to the five GED test areas.

 

The agency’s GED Test pass rate exceeds both the state and national average. The program has a strong educational counseling component which promotes next steps for all students, especially transitions to post secondary education. Included in the program are Accuplacer prep and college preparation classes.

 

ESOL (English for Speakers of other Languages)

Learning English is the first step toward economic independence. ESOL students study grammar, reading, writing; listening and speaking. ESOL students take regular assessments to measure progress. The program is aligned with state standards.
