I was born in Sydney (1974) and grew up in Gordon. Following my school years I became a cabinetmaker and continued this for about 9 years. After cabinetmaking I went on to work as an IT Manager for Sony Central in Chatswood for about 2.5 years. During this time I saw the growing need for a specialised audio visual installation company so I started my own business.

JFK Audio Visual has been going strong now for about 7 years. More recently I acquired another business related to the industry jfk.com.au. Claritas Technology manufacture a high end media center computer as seen here: www.claritas.com.au

Now for my photographic history:

I began taking photos from a very early age. My father was always taking photos when we were kids and he always seemed to have a camera draped around his neck. I had a fascination with looking at old slides and also playing with old camera equipment.

I dont remember when it was, however my first SLR camera was a Pentax, I didnt really know how to use it very well and I had never been given any lessons. So I basically used trial and error to get the results I wanted.

I managed to get hold of an old cable release and began taking long exposure photos while on holidays on the central coast. The last film style camera that I bought was a canon Ixus. It appealed to me because it was capable of ultra wide photos using the new style film and processing.

My first digital camera was a Sony Mavica. This was a camera that used floppy discs. I took some photos one early morning of the sun rising over Avoca Beach which are in my photostream. Its a shame I didnt have a better camera with more megapixels at the time because I love that photo.

I followed the Mavica with a bunch of different digital cameras, always wanting to be able to get better shots I waited till I could afford a Digital SLR. I bought my first Canon digital SLR about when the 20D first came out have loved it ever since.

During the last few months I have been honing my skills with the help of some tuition from www.spw.net.au

This extra insight into how to use my camera more effectively has been invaluable.

My passion has grown further and I am always looking for me next shot.
