The world we experience is shaded by a spectrum of emotional colors. The task of the photographer -- as I see it -- is to respond to these psychically charged elements that bubble just beneath the visual surface. The act of taking a photograph, carving the vastness of the full space of a day into an isolated rectangle, is not a straightforward algorithm of compressing three dimensions into two, rather, it is a mystical transformation, a distillation of surfaces into a concentrated essence of emotion.
