“To me no place is boring, if you've had a good night's sleep and have a pocket full of unexposed film. I’m of the opinion that one doesn’t take a photograph, you make it. Photography deals exquisitely with appearances, but nothing is what it appears to be, it’s up to you to mold it accordingly.
A great photograph is a full expression of what one feels about what is being photographed in the deepest sense, and is a true expression of what one feels about life in its entirety. It records what is written on the human face, the beauty of the earth and skies that man has inherited, and the wealth and confusion man has created.
To me beng a photographer is being an artist but instead of using paint, I paint with light. Every time someone tells me how sharp my photos are, I assume that it isn't a very interesting photograph. If it were, they would have more to say. Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution. Of course, there will always be those who look only at technique, who ask "how," while others of a more curious nature will ask "why." Personally, I have always preferred inspiration to information.”

Jerome Jooste, 24, is a well-motivated Graduate in journalism and photography with a creditable record of achievement and experience in editing, writing and photography. Following his relocation to the London area seven months ago, he is now actively seeking to further his career in a journalism-orientated role.
He has been actively involved in journalism since 2000 and his degree in Journalism obtained in South Africa taught him the value of clear and accurate reporting. This was reinforced by his past few years experience as a journalist, photographer, layout artist and Chief editor at various publications. Taking a year off from writing and journalism, he went to to study photography at the National College of Photography to gain a deeper understading of photography as a medium. He excelled in photography and has been hooked since then. Before arriving in London he held the position of Chief editor at the Institute of Democracy for South Africa.
“I love the business of reporting. The hours are unpredictable. However one has the unique ability to effect change in how our institutions run and how well the people in charge run them. We celebrate the efforts of ordinary people who make incredible sacrifices, big and small. Sometimes more than we like to, we are obliged to write about human cruelty, the better to teach the importance of morality and the value of doing what’s right. To maybe, just maybe have the chance to do something wonderful. The chance to make a difference.“
