I've been a photographer since 1967 when as a teenager I built my first darkroom in my family's farmhouse in North Central Ohio. I was a photojournalist for the Mansfield (Ohio) News Journal from 1970 until 1997 (check out my "Old News" album) in the pre-digital age and also operated my own photo studio from 1973 until 2021 doing portraits, weddings (over 1,000) aerials and commercial work on location and in my studio. I have a degree in Photography and Journalism from The Ohio State University and taught photography in the Art department at the OSU Mansfield campus from 1998 until 2022.

I've shot and processed tens of thousands of rolls and sheets of film – 4x5, medium format, 35mm (B&W, C-41, and E6) and made tens of thousands of B&W and color prints in the darkroom – even made quite a few Cibachrome prints. Most of my work is digital now.

I'm old and fully retired but I'm not hanging my cameras up yet.

If I'm lucky I'll drop dead one day with a camera to my eye — that's not as horrible as it sounds — when you get to be my age you'll probably understand.
