My uncle Clark got me interested in photography when I was 10 or 11 years old by letting me borrow his camera, and I've been hooked ever since! Through the years, the excitement of looking through the camera’s viewfinder and capturing that “moment in time” when the shutter clicked has never left me. I've always been the person with the camera, and have amassed thousands of pictures of kids, family, friends, sports, vacations, nature, and just about anything that I could point my camera at.
Although I have always enjoyed photography, it wasn’t until I switched from film based photography to digital in 2006 that I felt a real passion for capturing fine nature and landscape images. As an Information Technology professional, digital photography created a “perfect marriage” between photography and my “work – a – day” world of computer hardware, software, and the internet. With digital I can experiment freely without worrying about the cost of film and development, see the results instantly, and make adjustments to the shot in the field if necessary. I can control the whole process from capture to the final print, and I feel all of this has made me a much better photographer.
For me, photography is really about the journey, the whole experience of “getting there” to capture a great image.
