I would like my perspective on railroading to be self-evident in the selection of images I share with you here on Flickr. A railroad is so much more than the locomotives and rail cars that move about on the tracks. A railroad is about community. It provides jobs. It enables businesses and industries to thrive by providing critical transportation services. While today's modern railroads focus more and more on large customers and unit train operations I hope that my old pictures show what things used to be like down by the train tracks. Many of us older guys had dads, and grand dads and uncles who worked on the railroad. Or they worked for small companies that depended on the railroads every day of the week. Join me as I add images to this window into the past at Duluth-Superior. All of my images were shot on film negatives and slides. The only thing digital about my collection is how it is presented to you here with the help of the best software program on planet earth—Photoshop. Most people know that the digital camera or scanner gets images into the computer. It's Photoshop that brings them back out again, as you see here. While some of my images lack what modern cameras provide I trust the subject matter will help to make up the difference.
Cheers!
