Tomas Remiarz
Drag to set position!
We were Jed Picksley and Tomas Remiarz, nomadic permaculture practitioners. Between 2005 and 2011 we built compost toilets, sheds, greywater systems, raised beds and a barn, organised events, looked after children, wrote business plans, taught permaculture courses and dug/ mulched/planted/weeded/harvested more gardens, orchards and woodlands than we could possibly remember. We migrated predominantly in Britain, with occasional forays into central Europe, particularly Germany and the Czech Republic. For a living, Jed makes art, lectures and teaches all sorts of things. Tomas teaches permaculture courses and is available for design work. Sometimes we did commercial harvest work, but mostly we just cruised from one friendly place to the next on our bikes and enjoyed the beautiful simplicity of sharing other people's space, work and lives. Nomadism helps to cros-pollinate projects with ideas, information and enthusiasm. It may not be everybody's ideal lifestyle, but it certainly worked for us, in our energetic early-middle-age!
Now, we live here: www.earthwormhousingcooperative.org.uk, which has it's own flickr called "wheatworm".
We first visited it in 2008 and had absolutely no clue that we would ever take responsibility for the 7 acres and three buildings (albeit with 11 other people and rising), ourselves! We still get about, but these days, we also come home :-)
Tomas's e-mail is actually tomas.remiarz@yahoo.co.uk. Jed's is jed2f4@yahoo.co.uk, "2f4" commemorating a flat she lived in in Edinburgh in the year 2000. For lots of pictures of her art, see www.facebook.com/wheatstonewirework/
