Towards the end of high school I developed a block. I'm a perfectionist, and as my skill at drawing progressed so did my need to have every strand of hair in place. That undid me, the hundreds of fine details became overwhelming (especially the hair!)...there is a mental process involved in translating what I see onto a page. I lost the process - that part of my mind shut down in despair.

A couple of years ago I found that process again. Remaining "in the zone", that's trickier. More elusive. Also, my eyesight isn't what it used to be.

This Flickr acccount is a measure taken to prompt me to work at it. I also hope to experimant with other media and explore color, as I've always worked in black and white.

My drawings are done in .3mm mechanical pencil. As shading is done with such a fine point only (there are no sides to the lead which can be used!), each drawing takes a very long time.
