For almost a year or more, I've been peeking into Vicky's collection every now and then to see what's new. I wasn't sure what it was that kept drawing me back to her photographs of people and places she knows. Why am I so interested in them? I would ask myself. We're strangers. I don't know them and they don't know me, but there seem to be a sense of connection. I couldn't place my finger on it. Quite recently, I realize that it was a desire for a sense of nostalgia that kept drawing me back. To me, Vicky's collection of photographs is about nostalgia - fond memories of people and places dear to her heart. Undeniably, this is something that every human being desires as well, and sometimes jealously. Nostalgia, it's a special thing to have and to cherish like a rare and precious gem. ;)

Since I first came across her work about 2 years ago, it has morphed into a consistent vision of domestic intimacy, work-a-day insights, and pastoral romance. Her work is always beautiful and touching which shows her total emotional immersion in everything she does, and I'm sure with everyone she knows and touches. I don't know how she manages to capture the very essence and soul of her model, but she does, and it makes me want to weep. Vicky approaches her photography with a tenderness that is never cheesy or overdone. She retains a sense of fun and whimsy. She is, for sure, one of my favourite portrait photographers, and I know I'll never tire of watching her stream. One day I sincerely hope I can produce such moving pictures.

Many months ago, I stumbled onto Vicky's stream via a shot on explore, and spent over an hour looking through all her photos. I was so inspired by her work that I tried to write her a testimonial on the spot, which is extremely rare; I have only written 2 testimonials in all my time on flickr! But I was foiled when I discovered you can only write testimonials for people that add you as a contact, and by the time I made that happen, the moment had passed. Now, many months later and many photos gone by and Vicky and I are regular visitors to each other's streams. I'm always excited to see her name in my contacts and always click to see what she's up to now. I am particularly fond of her shots of her beautiful daughter, Grace...they honestly and poetically convey a moment in that transition from childhood to adolescence that I find partcularly poignant and beautiful. Vicky does amazing work, and is one of my favorite photographers on flickr.

School Report - Sweet Distin Vicky spends too much time watching others and looking at the most mundane of objects. Occaisionaly she will burst out into laughter during class. It is very disturbing for the other pupils, especially as she quite often sits alone. She excels in her art lessons and creates work that is far superior than any in her year group. She enjoys Photography, and gains first prize EVERY YEAR in our annual school photographic competition. I don't see Vicky working in the office enviroment as an adult, I feel that she will probably end up working in a creative field. She may even become a Great Photographer.
