I took up drawing as a beginner in early 2012, having discounted myself from artistic pursuits when small. Despite a wish to make pictures and an urge to do so, the frustrating results I had as a child and teenager, the natural ability evident in other family members, and the inevitably restrictive labelling that we all experience as children ('academic' 'not practical') all contributed to my not pursuing things artistic. Only myself to blame, I realise! Somehow, some thirty years later, the need to make art has bubbled up - and I am busy teaching myself to draw.
