Julie certainly is an excellent photographer and is also excellent at commenting on other members' photos including mine. She is also great at choosing other members' photos to add to her Favorites, including some of mine. In addition to commenting on my photos, Julie has also invited my photos to some of the groups she has admin duties in and has also posted many great photos of the members of groups she is an admin for in topics for Admins' favorite photos of members. And I have posted some of her photos to my Favorites and as Admin Faves in the Flower Close-Ups group. :-)

There are many fine flower photographers at Flickr. And then there is Julie Scholz. Her work occupys a level of its own, somewhere near the top. Spend a few moments going though a slideshow of one of her photo sets and you will quickly be convinced of the overall excellence found in her photostream. These are images that elicit audible "oohs" and "wows" from the viewer. These are all well considered compositions created with patience and a love for her subjects. This is photography with great strength, grace and sensitivity. We get to share her experiments, but there is no bad photography on these pages. Because an integral part of being an artist is knowing how to edit your work. It is truly a pleasure to visit her photostream every day to see what new treats await to inspire us in our own vision. Besides her considerable skill as a photographer, Julie517 is a genuinely kind and compassionate person. When I first signed on to Flickr it seemed a vast and intimidatng place. Julie was the first person who actually made me feel welcome with kind comments and awards and invitations to groups. She continues to encourage friends and newbies alike on a daily basis. I hope that someday she will share more of her early B&W work. Thanks Julie for being you ! ! !

I always enjoy seeing Julie's work. I experience her style as fresh and breathless (as in "takes the breath away") and am always inspired by it. There are a few people on Flickr I would love to have as teachers/mentors for this art and Julie is one of them. I suspect a great deal of her success is in being able to envision what she wants to achieve and then figuring out how to master it. And master it, she does!
