This account was created to start an ART PROJECT for people with Attention Deficit Disorder (with or without Hyperactivity)
Main Points(I couldn't stand to read all of that down there, but please give it a chance be a part of this. It will be fun)
-Jamie Lunsford. Contact me at jamienacole@rocketmail.com This is starting out as an mail art assignment/project using the computer as a tool.
-"ADDer's Ability to HyperFocus: an Army's SuperPower Project" ...ADDERS JOIN THIS GROUP TO BE PART OF THIS ART PROJECT. I will communicate with everyone there about updates involving the project. (or email me) Post photograph of the last thing you hyperfocused on. (leave contact info if you want to be on the list of people that made all of this possible. Make the picture as large as possible using a dpi of 300. If you do not know what that means, forget about it and send one any way!
- "ADDers, Oh The Places We Go" is for the ADDer that does not experience hyperfocusing. Guide for you: While deciding on what to shoot, take a picture of the first thing that distracts you. Remember: There is only one group for both working art projects. I hope they love each other <3 Maybe they'll get married.
About me:
I am a photography student at ETSU. This account is being started for a project I am working on. The assignment's starting point is make some form of mail art using the computer as a tool. I get to take this project as far I want. This is nice because, I can take it as far l as I choose, without restrictions. This project was assigned not long after I was put on medication for Attention Deficit Disorder. I decided to build this project around the advantages of having ADD with or without Hyperactivity. My brother has had ADHD since he was a child, but I had never heard about any of the good stuff!! I have spent the past few weeks researching Attention Deficit Disorder. I am learning so much about myself through reading and listening to other's stories. I thought the mail art project would be the perfect place for me to start communication with other people diagnosed with ADD.
I am going to start a group shortly. This "group" will be a place for posting responses to the project. I guess I should give it a name... "ADDer's Ability to HyperFocus: an Army's SuperPower Project" Well, after a few trial and errors, that sounds good to me.
The more I read, the more I learn about all the great things that come along with this "disability". I am HyperFocused on this idea. I really hope I can find some ADDers out their willing to participate. I am not sure how big this will get, but I want all of you to know that I will keep it going as long as people are continue to join and post.
Getting to the exciting part..
If you or anyone you know wants to be involved, please set up a Flickr account. It is free up to like 100 pictures, or so I hear. You will not be able to post on the group if you do not have an account through Yahoo.com. I actually had to make a new Yahoo email just for the project. Please don't let that scare you way. I will except every single one that asks to befriend me on this account or through the group. Every pic will be excepted. If you want to put nude pictures on, that cool if, you can somehow block it from child eyes. I know that some websites do that.
No images will be declined. Although, if printed for an exhibit or some sort of publishing, I will use all of them if I can. But if not, I will use the ones that serve the best function. A possible way of deciding might be to choose one from each person. For now, I do not know how I will represent this in a physical way outside of the internet cloud. I will keep the group updated on my ideas for finalizing.
I am kind of backwards if you can't tell :)
Let me try to get back on track. My idea is to have as many people who have or think they have ADD with or without Hyperactivity to take a photograph of the last thing they did while hyper focusing. You can make this picture using a digital camera, and then up loading it to the group. If you do not want to make a Flickr account you can send me a picture to my new email address <3 jamienacole@rocketmail.com. Also, If you are someone that does not experiance hyper focus, do not fray. I am adding on a side project to stand along with this one. Send me a photograph through the group. While deciding on what to photograph, take a picture of the first thing that distracts you from this task. Even if it is just a thought or an Idea. Just try to describe it though the image. This second part of the project idea is called.... That last sentence took me 22 mins to write, because I forgot what I was doing. So I think that would be a perfect name for the group, "ADDer O, The Places We Go".
My friends call it "Jamiing Out". I wonder if I can bring that in to this study.
I will make a bullet point list for all of this, because I know that I wouldn't read it. And even if I did, I wouldn't know what it said. If you have any questions contact me
<3

PS
Thanks so much for all of you time. I hope this helps people connect for personal reasons too. I know I love talking about my ADD, but my friends and family is kind of getting sick of it.
