JAMES L. CLARK is an accomplished polymath who believes his purpose on planet Earth is to serve others by being a loving, passionate, and powerful example of how to live a productive, meaningful, and positive life.
He’s a prolific author, medic with over 20 years experience, a seasoned traveler, adventurer, producer, inventor, veteran, entrepreneur, business leader, and speaker—just to name a few.
Born and raised in California under rather difficult circumstances, James dropped out of high school his sophomore year to join the military. While most rational people would discourage such a move, it had a profound impact on James and helped him become the determined humanitarian he is today.
Though he didn’t fair well in school growing up, James found academic life as an adult to be exhilarating and addictive. His subsequent accomplishments are not only improbable, but truly awe inspiring. He graduated from police academy, studied philosophy and Latin at the undergraduate level, went to law school, earned an MBA in an unprecedented 10 months, and he’s the only American to have graduated with a Masters of Global Security from the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, at the Royal Military College of Science in England.
The catalyst for forming BOOTS ON THE GROUND (BOTG), a non-profit humanitarian and charitable relief organization, was the time he spent helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, and then the Haitians after the earthquake in January, 2010 killed and injured hundreds of thousands of people in less than a few minutes. What he witnessed during those two events crystallized his desire to make a difference where governments and large NGOs, too often bogged down in bureaucracy and red tape, are less effective. BOTG is James’ personality, desires, dreams for the world, and view of responsible global citizenry personified.
In 2008 James was awarded a Hero Award on national television for his actions in New Orleans, and his life-saving efforts in both New Orleans and Haiti have been featured on CNN, the BBC, Fox News, the CBS Evening News, and on the television show Heroes Among Us.
Senator Bill Frist (R–Tenn.) says, “James is a superb individual whom I know will continue to powerfully contribute to the communities he serves. I have huge respect for his commitment to serving others in time of need.”
Actor Lou Ferrigno, who played the Incredible Hulk on television, says, “You’re a true American hero.”
