I'm Jake, I own a bike rental and souvenir shop on Pelee Island smack dab in the middle of the western basin of Lake Erie. I went to school for graphic design but always enjoyed photography (as long as it didn't have people in it, I hate photographing people), landscapes, wildlife, and product photography were always ones that I gravitated toward. I worked as a graphic designer for a few years and was able to also do some event and product photography as a part of that job. When I was all done with that job I kind of took a hiatus from photography in general because I hadn't really done it outside of work in so long. Recently I decided to get back into it with a focus on shooting anything and everything that I can find on Pelee Island. I plan to use the photos that I shoot as products in my store, as imagery and educational resources on my website (www.thepeleeshop.com), and I am hoping that I can deck out some of the walls in the store with some giant photos from all around the island. Regardless of what I end up doing with any of these photos I have truly found a joy in going out for walks either with my family or on my own, camera in hand, and seeing what kind of neat stuff I end up stumbling across.
