Andrew’s passion for capturing the world on film was ignited as a young boy on summer trips with his family to the US national parks. In those days, he was happy to have a hand-me-down Rolleiflex and a Kodak 126 instamatic camera.

Then the ocean called, and Andrew traveled the world by water as merchant mariner on tugboats and professional crew on both racing sailboats and charter yachts. During this time, a manual Pentax film camera was his constant companion, allowing him to capture images of the people, places, and things that caught his eye in ports near and far.

Andrew’s knowledge of all things marine led him to work as government subcontractor on seized vessels. During this time, he learned digital photography using the first Sony floppy disc cameras to document ships’ inventories and equipment. Subsequent work in marine surveying provided additional experience with digital photography, using Nikon bridge cameras and DSLR cameras to document the technical condition of surveyed vessels.

While Andrew continues to expand his technical skills through seminars on photography and post-production techniques, including courses offered through MIT, it’s the creative side of photography that really excites him. For several years, he has been capturing the efforts of athletes at the Boston Marathon, the Landmine Classic Mountain bike race, and XXXX horse shows. He’s currently studying the photojournalistic aspects of photography for a summer 2018 trip to Eastern Europe.

Andrew currently resides in Boston, MA and his go-to camera is a Nikon D750
