HOORAY--OVER 1,000,000 VIEWS AS OF TODAY!!!! Of course, flickr changed its counting system, so views are cheaper than they used to be.

I was born in 1962. I'm a university professor of biophysics, an opera lover and a fan of travel, horses, camping, archaeology and Asia (not necessarily in that order).

Have lived in Italy, France, Ireland, Australia and Japan, though my heart seems to be in Mongolia.

The majority of the photos relate to landscapes, cityscapes and archaeology taken during travel to Mongolia, China, Japan, Korea, Cambodia, Colombia, Peru, India, Australia, Germany, Brussels, Holland and the USA. There are also a large number of candids of dogs (I think dogs can be very diagnostic of a society).

Because of the number of photos (more than 40,000), I strongly recommend against simply browsing the photostream. Instead, either start with the collections or sets and work your way down, or do keyword searches for countries or topics of interest . Map browsing is also effective.

The majority of the photos on this site were taken by my partner Jim Ferguson. He was born in 1961 and is an organic farmer, artist and graphic designer.Any request for use of any photos must be cleared by him via email jferg61@gmail.com.

All photos are original and copyrighted unless explicitly indicated (a few were taken by friends at events we both participated in). In the latter case, the photographer and copyright owner is indicated.

All public photos (and 99.9% of all photos) are family rated. While none are explicitly sexual, a very few, which might be slightly sensitive, are friends and family only. If you find anything misrated, please let me know immediately.

Similarly, if you find errors in the captions or mistagging, please let me know.
