Author, School Visitor, 'Edutainer'.
As a children's author, I offers free visits to schools around the UK.
These visits involve a whole-school (Yr2-6) assembly-style 'edutainment show' followed by a book-signing. The emphasis of this show is the 'Fun of Finding Out', half the job of an author.
I also offer fee-based, creative writing workshops for school classes as a follow up to the 'Finding Out' show. These are based on 'Jack Trelawny's Story House', a system for building and breaking-down stories, which starts simply for younger children and expands for older children. The emphasis of the workshops is how an author goes about 'Planning, Writing, and Editing' a story, the other half of the job of an author.
I also offer free virtual visits via Skype to schools around the world. These involve smaller class groups, giving the children the opportunity to 'meet' an author, discuss writing ideas, and ask questions.
My first series of 6 novels was 'Kernowland in Erthwurld', an adventure about two children who enter a cave while on holiday and are transported to Erthwurld.
The second series is '13 Things', thirteen short stories inspired by the BBC's 'A History of the World in 100 Objects' series. There is one story for each of the thirteen 'children's' objects from the BBC series.
Free Teacher and Parent resources, such as activities, worksheets, and quizzes, are available for all my books on the website: www.jacktrelawny.com.
