Since Jackie Jay has been a contact of mine, I'm always excited when I see a new shot show up on my contact list. The reason for this is that her creativity and unique view of her world is always interesting. She shares bits of her life, which is sometimes risky. But this has allowed me to see where some of her creativity comes from. The way that she uses light in many of her portraits is also impressive. Rather than being content to let the light control the scene, she grabs it and makes it do what she wants. She isn't afraid to try something new or different. Her series on dirt was quite thought provoking. The way that she captures the eyes of her subjects, including her self-portraits, is always impressive as well. And she has beautiful eyes too! If I had to summarize my overall impressions of Jackie, I would say that she is one to watch. You know that riding along with her explorations of the world is going to be an eventful and entertaining trip. That is why I wanted her as a contact, and I haven't been disappointed yet.
