I have loved photography since I was a teenager. I enjoyed taking candid shots of family and friends. I'm now 74.

I started with the usual Kodak consumer cameras of the 1950s and 60s. I had a Pentax Spotmatic in the 70s and 80s. Then Canon AE-1. Added medium format in 80s. Even tried the film developing and bathroom darkroom for a while. The family didn't like the smell or the bathroom being out of commision for days/weeks at a time.

I've got boxes of slides, photos, and negatives from the film days in plastic bins in my garage. I pull out a few to scan once in a while, but they mostly just sit there. I'm leaving them to my kids and grandkids.

I was a slow convert to digital, getting my first one, a Canon Rebel, for a trip to Alaska in 2006. I learned how to use it as I was travelling. I've progressed to Canon 7Dii and 5Diii, and a number of Canon lenses.

I particularly like to photograph birds, landscapes, old structures, and interesting graphic images. I love to travel. A special place for me is the high plateau areas of the southwest.

I still enjoy it, I'm still learning, and it keeps me off the streets. Plus, it's a diversion from the news.
