Hi! My name is Jacek Dolata. I was born in Poland, but I immigrated to the USA, and I'm now a U.S. citizen.
After working in the IT and Audio Visual field, I decided to make what I always had loved into my profession – photography.
My adventure with photography started in the mid 1980’s when my mom, an amateur photographer, gave me her first 35mm film camera to explore. That camera was a German EXA 1a. It was not the best camera but she saw how passionate I became taking photos and developing prints in the darkroom so she let me have her brand new PRACTICA Super TL with a light meter built in and an amazing CARL ZEISS 50mm f1.8 lens. In the 80’s that was something!
I taught myself photography and techniques using 35mm film cameras, and in 2002 I switched to digital, constantly learning and refining my style. I continue to take college fine arts classes in my spare time to help me learn to create new artistic images. I graduated and received my Photography Certificate in May of 2011 from NCCC. Also, I belong to PPA Professional Photographers of America, CTPPA Connecticut Professional Photographers Association. I am a member of ArtWell Torrington and Art League of New Britain, where I often show my work.
Today, I use a Canon system. I like to photograph at my clients' favorite locations using natural light to capture those special candid and natural moments.
I also use flashes and strobe lights to create nice posed portraits. I photograph them on location or in studio.
My work has been published; I won Juried Show and Print Competitions at CTPPA with Best of Show in Creative category.
I am available for commission work by appointment:
