My photography journey began in the 1980s with my first 35mm film camera, a Minolta X-370. I enjoyed my photography for several years, mostly while traveling, until my interest waned in the early 2000s as the digital transition began. This interest in photography was renewed when I picked up my first digital camera, a Nikon P610 in 2015, in anticipation of a European River Cruise. I have enjoyed the freedom of the digital medium and certainly all the auto features on this point-and-shoot bridge camera.

After I retired in late 2018 following many years in the software engineering industry, I needed to find something to pass the time, so I returned to photography. I searched for photography clubs which brought me to my first club meeting in September of 2019 with the Northern VA Photographic Society (NVPS.org). Since then, it has been a good whirlwind of activity. The club has been very encouraging, and I firmly believe that my skills have grown considerably through club activities. I am enjoying all the benefits of the club and learning from all of the extraordinary talent in it.

I’m still trying to figure out what I like to photograph, but I certainly like taking pictures of big landscape vistas, wildlife, birds, and capturing travels from around the world.
