I started photo in high school, a long time ago, when digital photography was not even a concept... and I still don't know how to take a good picture! Sigh :)
Well, it's a pastime and I am very happy to go out, wander in the countryside or in the city and take photos.
I switched to digital photography in April 2004 (bought a Canon Powershot A95). I got my Nikon D200 in October 2006. I try to shoot "raw"... I am learning Gimp, Ufraw and Photoshop but I also use Irfanview and FastStone Image Viewer.… your advices will be very appreciated.
I love postcards, garlic, tomatoes, peaches, the Ocean, wind, big waves, clouds, storms, silence, deserted areas...
Born in North Africa at the edge of the Sahara desert, next to the Atlantic Ocean, I can still remember the different tones of the light and the odors, the scents of this region of the world. I also lived in the States (Midwest) and visited bits of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, upstate New York, Connecticut, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Northern California. I didn't have the opportunity to visit Monterey (CA) where one of my favorite authors, John Steinbeck, was born... I am currently living in a beautiful region of France, Normandy.
My mother tongue is French. I am fluent in English and understand basic written Spanish.
Favorite photographers: André Kertész, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau, Willy Ronis, Ansel Adams, Jeanloup Sieff, Jan Saudek, Bill Brandt, Imogen Cunningham, Sebastião Salgado, and many more... on Flickr.
