I first got into photography at school back in the early eighties. I had a Zenith camera and a wonderful teacher John Parry. We were lucky to have a darkroom and used to develop and print our own black and white photos. The fun of having your arms in a light-proof changing bag , not being able to see what you are doing, removing the film from the camera and feeding it into a spiral processing tank. And then the magic of developing your own prints, watching them appear in the red gloom of the darkroom.
After leaving school I spent more and more time painting with watercolours, and even sold my camera, until a problem with the tendons in my hands put an end to any creativity.
In Feb 2012 I bought a Canon EOS 550 and drove my family crazy when a walk in the woods became a stop-start as I trailed behind with my camera! My next camera was a Canon 6D, I absolutely loved it but decided to trade it in for something lighter, first a Fuji X-T10 and now a Fuji X-T20. My lovely husband Dave was diagnosed with MND and passed away one year 10 months later in November 2017 and during this time I stopped thinking about photography and was tempted to sell my gear. But I'm trying to get back into it again, and really appreciate all the encouragement, comments and advice my Flickr Friends give me, what a lovely bunch you are!

I would just like to say that ALL of your photos are brilliant. I wish I was even a tenth as good as you. It would take all my time to put a 'fave' to all of them, so please take this as 'Bloody Hell - you really have the talent for taking breath taking photos'.
You only have to look at Jo's history as a fully-fledged artist to understand why she has such a great eye for composition and colour in photography. Always original and often amusing, this is a photo-stream to watch and admire.
Jo's photos are fantastic, I love her landscapes and macro shots (and not just because she lives not far from me and I recognise a lot of the places she photographs). I find that I am 'faving' nearly all of them too. What's more, I love her humorous descriptions about how she got some of the photos. Keep up the g… Read more

Jo is a highly skilled photographer who is always looking for something wonderful to share with the world. Her images are so creative, diverse and full of interest. She seems to see the world through different eyes to everyone else. Jo has a fantastic talent for creating breathtaking images which tell a story all their own and create mood that pulls you into the photo. What's really amazing is that I don't think she even realizes how talented she really is! Even more appealing is her sense of humour that comes through in her work & comments which are always generous & encouraging. Her photostream if filled to the brim of stunning & beautiful pictures, each one a work of art. If anyone needs a masterclass in composition, perspective and creativity, then look no further than this amazing photographer."
