I'm a visual artist working in artistic and documentary photography who returned to art after 5 years as an international development policy analyst.

My background in Law and international relations informs my work. I adopt a project-based approach that combines social issues and personal questions with minimalistic compositions.

Part of my work is visible on FlickR (Izzy Lara) and Instagram (@izzy.lara).

My latest project - entitled « My Liquid Horizon - Unreachable » - comprises a series of photographs and poetry conceived on the perception one has of the environment and landscape they grow up in and how it shapes one’s vision for the future.

It originates from my will to share the appeasing feelings of the ocean with a friend who grew up in the mountains of New Hampshire and sees in the ocean « just a lot of water », an unreachable horizon.

From the Mediterranean to the Pacific, through the Irish and Brazilian Atlantic coasts, this series is meant to lead the viewer into a personal reflection of their own background and how it shapes their perception of the ocean.
