You'll find me exploring abandoned places, side roads and forests off the beaten path - with 35mm film camera in hands.
Or in bathroom where I reverse my films into slides for projection, discovering what each film has to offer*

135 CLEAR BASE
Best for projection. Usually archival and projection heat tolerant PET is used. Or a lesser base - clear Triacetate. PET is a rare beast in 135 and it is a strong indicator of Technical / Aerial origin. In larger formats however PET is quite common, making them ideal for reversal.
- CMS 20 II Pro - in the White Void (of waiting)
- HR-50 + RG715 / Scala 50 + IR72, RG715
- Fomapan R 100 developed in PQ Universal or in Foma Reversal Kit + RG715
! Sadly R100 leaves me constantly wanting more. When there's no emulsion problems encountered for a change, the lackluster sharpness and weak ability to record details will still persist and be very obvious with >50x projection enjoyed intimately close. With lesser enlargement it will work just fine though.
- Infrared 400 + IR72, RG715
- Retro 400S + RG715
- Superpan 200 + IR72, RG715
- Tasma film with green emulsion coating
135 GRAY BASE
Some or all of these films come on clear bases in larger formats, making them ideal for reversal

AND 135 E-6 ON THE SIDE:
! Sadly E100 is not up to my projection standards with >50x projection enlargement and decent projection lens (Meridian PC 45mm 2.8). Its inability to record small details and colors balanced towards the colder side (not my cup of developer) makes this an eyesore, especially next to Aviphot-sourced films and next to Fujichromes - to a lesser, but still apparent degree. With smaller enlargement it will work, though.
WHAT ELSE?
- Analog errors - embrace and learn!
- Antihalation Layer removal for modern Infrared films to mimic the Kodak HIE soft highlight bloom
- Infrared Slides with Heliopan RG715, RG695 or Digital King IR72
- Slide toning in Himalayan Black Salt or Kala Namak.
DO I SHOW MY WORK IRL?
Slide projection is the "purest" way to enjoy film as there's no further translation involved - either to paper or file - therefore I strongly believe that the joy of slides can fully be appreciated only in person.
So once in a blue moon I throw an event. Over the years I've projected my slides at:
- Grade A fallout shelter under the Preses Nams;
- Lesser fallout shelter in Andrejosta;
- Rīgas audums - network of underground tunnels leading to a peculiar fallout shelter;
- "Chernobyl slideshow" at Baltic Analog Lab after we visited the site in fall of 2016;
- Fototelpa.lv;
- Elektromehānika - an abandoned factory;
- At many Slideshow + Urban Poetry Evenings;
- "Projections" - an international projection night at 2nd "Analoginės fotografijos ir kino festivalis", Lietuva;
- Olaines 1. vidusskola, introducing a photography class to slides
- My first exhibition! "Neredzamā gaisma" at Olaine History and Art Museum. Opened it with a projection evening and included slides that hung printed in the next room.
